9 Months: The Beauty Products

When I wasn’t messaging Jimmy Johns to confirm that their cheese was pasteurized (it is if you were wondering), I was on a hunt to create a pregnancy safe skincare routine and add a few core makeup items.

There is plenty of things to avoid while pregnant. However, what is safe to use when it comes to skincare and makeup? We're sharing a handful of products on The Brunette Blend that we used during pregnancy to help get your research started. Let’s face it, there is SO much product out there and it can get overwhelming fast. None of these products missed a beat during the past 9 months and are still on rotation today.

Skincare

CeraVe Moisturizing Cream

I looked into pricey lotions and oils that promised to prevent stretch marks, but opted for a more affordable option instead. This cream is THICK and hydrating and left me with no pregnancy stretch marks in sight. While things like stretch marks tend to be hereditary, it doesn’t hurt to lather up and keep your skin feeling it’s best through pregnancy! I’m still using it and plan to make this a repeat during the colder months.

Volition Mineral Prismatic Luminizing Shield SPF 35

Ok, so there are quite a lot of no-no ingredients in beauty products when you’re growing a human. One of the biggest is chemical sunscreen. I’m a wear sunscreen daily gal, so this one was SO tricky. My favorites all fell into the do not use category. This sent me down to mineral sunscreens and the hunt was fierce. Every one I tried left me with a cast and made me nauseous. I received Volition’s as a sample and THANK GOODNESS! This one had great protection and featured a more beige color opposed to a stark white, which made it easier to blend. This was a great option for me, but would love to see more shade options given how much mineral sunscreens cast (they’re tough to blend in!).

Renee Rouleau

Rapid Response Detox CleanserElderberry Soothing TonerAnti BumpSkin Correcting Serum

Renee Rouleu is my go-to when my skin isn’t behaving. When it came to pregnancy safe beauty products, this is really the only place I splurged and it was well worth it. If I could recommend only two products to seriously look into, it would definitely be the Rapid Response Detox Cleanser and Anti Bump. These two really helped clear hormonal acne and painful bumps. Another one I’m still using and would purchase again

Pimple Patches

Just about any acne product contains ingredients that aren’t recommended for use during pregnancy. Which is extremely frustrating - my face broke out pretty much immediately. Hero’s Original Mighty Patch was my go-to for pimples that had surfaced. It’s a hydrocolloid so it absorbs and extracts opposed to using a medication.

Makeup

Tarte Maracuja Tinted Moisturizer

A lot of tinted moisturizers feature chemical sunscreen and this one is just strictly a moisturizer with color. It offers light coverage which is perfect to even skin tone while keeping up with a natural look.

ColourPop Blush Stix

This is one of my favorite cream blushes. I use the shade Cool It and it’s perfect cheeks and lids.

W3ll People Bio Baked Bronzer

This bronzer is GORGEOUS. While it looks rather dark in the packaging, it offers a glow within kind of glow. I don’t know about you, but I was not ‘glowing’ while pregnant - ha! And if I was…it was because of this.

W3ll People Bronzer Stick

A perfect stick for carving out that sharp contour. It blends beautifully and great under the powder bronzer if you’re in for a full glam.
